Airtel donates 135,000,000 RWF to Honorable Minister of Health Rwanda to extend our support in battling COVID_19.
Presenting the cheque Airtel M.D Amit Chawla said “Today, we are grateful for the opportunity to present our donation and be part of the national efforts to combat the COVID-19 and This contribution is a token of our gratitude towards the role played by the Frontline workers who are executing the Governments effort to end the global pandemic,” He added.
Airtel has already taken several steps to help mitigate the impact of social distancing on our customers during this outbreak which includes a toll-free line 114 for subscribers to call and get prevention tips and information on the COVID 19.
Airtel has also provided free access to Education Sites: E-learning platforms under Rwanda Education Board, Higher Education Council Rwanda to allow
students at home to continue learning at a distance with no need for a bundle of internet.
Airtel has also provided an additional 5 private universities e-learning modules on the Airtel Network. These include the University of Rwanda, High Learning Institute of Applied Sciences Ruhengeri, Adventist University of Central Africa, Christian University of Rwanda, & Kibogora Polytechnic.
Airtel has also made person to person money transfer free to support social distancing and foster the use of digital payments among communities and free SMS service to allow families and friends to remain in touch.
