Sep 30: A new Passport Office (PO) is now functioning in Kota, Rajasthan. It was inaugurated on 29 September 2023 by Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri V. Muraleedharan in the presence of other dignitaries. This is the 37th Passport Office in India and the 2nd Passport Office in Rajasthan.
In his speech, MoS Shri Muraleedharan thanked Shri Om Birla, Speaker of Lok Sabha for his constant support in setting up the PO.
Passport applicants from twelve (12) districts of Southern and Eastern Rajasthan will be facilitated at PO Kota. It will have, under its jurisdiction, Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), Udaipur and 8 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) in Kota, Bhilwara, Jhalawar, Kankroli, Chittorgarh, Sawai Madhopur, Pratapgarh and Banswara.
Initially, 145 appointments per day would be released which will be increased gradually on demand. Passport Office, Kota will also process applications under the Tatkaal category apart from other passport-related services.
Passport Office, Kota is integrated with the Passport Seva Project (PSP) – a high-impact citizen-centric e-governance initiative as part of the National e-Governance Plan.
Ministry of External Affairs has taken a big leap in Passport issuance by focusing on faster service delivery, transparency, accessibility, citizen-friendliness and convenience and is now driven to fulfil the Prime Minister’s vision of “Ease of Living”.
