Oct 03: Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh paid an official visit to New Zealand from 24-29 September 2023. This was the first official visit of the MoS to New Zealand.
During the visit, MoS and New Zealand’s Prime Minister H.E. Mr Chris Hipkins participated in the 1st India Business Summit 2023 co-organised by the High Commission of India in Wellington and the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. MoS shared his views on India’s economic growth and boosting India-New Zealand relations.
MoS held bilateral meetings with H.E. Ms. Priyanca Radhakrishnan, Minister of Ethnic Community and Voluntary Sector and H.E. Ms. Jan Tinetti, Minister of Education. Both sides discussed a range of issues on bilateral cooperation and acknowledged that increased high-level engagements in the past year have led to positive momentum in the relations. The possibilities for furthering cooperation in the education sector and the welfare of Indian students were also discussed.
MoS held interactions with academia and think tanks and called for enhancing cooperation between the academic institutions. He also interacted with Indian students and the members of the Indian diaspora. He appreciated their contributions in strengthening business, culture and people-to-people ties between India and New Zealand.
