Oct 12: The 2nd India-Andorra Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) were held in Andorra la Vella on October 11, 2023. Shri Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, and H.E. Ms Imma Tor, Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs co-chaired the meeting.
Secretary (West) recalled the visit of the former Foreign Minister H.E. Maria Ubach Font to India last year, which was the first ever Foreign Minister-level visit between the two nations since diplomatic ties were established in 1994. Both sides expressed satisfaction at the increased momentum in bilateral ties.
During the consultations, both sides undertook a comprehensive review of all aspects of bilateral relations, including migration and mobility, finance, tourism, economic cooperation, consular matters, and the International Day of Yoga. The two sides agreed that the Joint Declaration on Friendship and Cooperation signed in 2022 offered a good framework to further develop the bilateral engagement.
Both sides stressed the importance of multilateral diplomacy and exchanged views on cooperation in multilateral fora such as the UN. They also discussed regional and global issues such as G20, BRICS, EU, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific.
The next round of consultations will be held in India on mutually convenient dates.
