Trade Surplus of $0.16B in Foreign Trade for April 2020

May 17: Government of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry released the Foreign Trade statistics of the country for the period of April 2020. The highlights of the reports is as follows

India’s overall exports (Merchandise and Services combined) in April 2020* are estimated to be USD 27.96 billion, exhibiting a negative growth of (-) 36.65per cent over the same period last year. Overall imports in April 2020* are estimated to be USD 27.80billion, exhibiting a negative growth of (-) 47.36 per cent over the same period last year.

Merchandise Value – Total Exports USD 10.36Billion (down by 60.28%), Total Imports USD 17.12 billion (down by 58.65%), Total Trade Deficit USD 6.76 billion

Services Value – Total Exports USD 17.6 billion (down by 2.54%), Total Imports USD 10.68 billion (down by 6.37%), Net of Services USD 6.93 billion

Overall Trade – Exports USD 27.96 billion (down by 36.65%), Imports USD 27.8 billion (down by 47.36%), Trade Surplus USD 0.16 billion
