Oct 23: Department of Posts (DOP), Ministry of Communications released a commemorative postage stamp on the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Organisations today.
The release function witnessed participation by Dr. S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister (EAM) as Chief Guest, in presence of Secretary (Posts), DOP and Secretary (West), MEA.
In his remarks at the release of the commemorative postage stamp, EAM welcomed the timely initiative of Department of Posts to propose the UN@75 Commemorative Postage Stamp on the eve of the founding of the United Nations. He highlighted that as a founding member of the United Nations, India was deeply invested in UN’s success and had been at the forefront of UN Peacekeeping Operations.
It may be noted that the Department of Posts has previously released similar such commemorative postage stamps on the UN’s 9th, 40th, and 50th Anniversaries in 1954, 1985, and 1995 respectively.
